We arrived in Singapore at 7:05AM on Tuesday, July 21. A really nice man was assigned to help us at the airport. And again, God had him take good care of us. God did a little miracle for me that made me feel so loved. After the long flight, I really wanted a breath mint because I knew that people would be at the airport to receive us, and I didn’t want to have stinky breath. But, I didn’t have any mints with me and I didn’t know where I would be able to get any. But, as we were waiting at immigration, unexpectedly, the man who was pushing my chair thrust his fist towards me and said, “This is for you!” And to my surprise, he handed me a handful of hard candies. I looked through the hard candies and most of them were fruit flavored. But, there was one breath mint! Praise Jesus. But, then I thought, “I wish there were two breath mints so both Mom and I could have one.” I looked through the candies again, and lo and behold, I found another breath mint! God is so good. He takes care of our smallest needs.
At the airport, a wonderful sister, Ranee Didi, was there to receive us. She was so sweet and did everything possible to make us feel welcome. She kept us busy the entire car ride, with her lovely chatter, and we didn’t even realize when we arrived at the conference venue.
I was a little apprehensive about the convention venue and scared that it would not be very wheelchair accessible. I had been praying to Jesus to make the bathroom clean and accessible…that was my main concern
But, when they showed us our room and showed us the bathroom, I was disappointed. It was very small and not very clean. I was wondering how it would work. And just as I was beginning to feel sad, Ranee Didi came with a lady who opened a locked door in our room and behind the locked door was a second HUGE bathroom. It was clean and accessible! You know, Jesus really does meet our every need!
That evening we went with a group to a dinner at someone’s home. The drive was beautiful. Singapore is a beautiful country. It is so lush and well maintained. What really caught my eye was the variety of the types of plants and trees.
At the dinner I met a man who said that he started believing in Jesus when he was 15 years old, after Jesus visited him in his bedroom. I am hoping to hear the rest of this testimony. I also met a girl from Amritsar who is a Sikh convert. I want to know her testimony as well.
One of the coolest things was that the host of the dinner happened to be a man that I was supposed to meet about a year ago, but was unable to because I was in India when he visited the US. He is doing research on Indian Christians in the diaspora. I remember being a little disappointed when I was unable to meet him because I had thought it would be interesting to know about his research. And the man told me that he had been disappointed he had been unable to meet me as well. But, now, here we were meeting by God’s divine appointment and we had the chance to chat about his project and our experiences.
