God is a good God. In fact He is GREAT. And He knows what is best.
We have been going to a market to pray for people every week. Intially, God started the entire work and we would see many people come to us for prayer. But, slowly, as we began to use our own efforts and make our own “plans”…the crowds dwindled.
However, a few weeks ago, we decided that we would not work according to our own plans. Instead, we spent the time in personal prayer. We did this for 2-3 weeks. And then for the past two weeks, it has been like a miracle. Many many people have been coming…we have been seeing God at work. It has been awesome!
Sometimes we think that we know better than Him. We may not say this. And often we don’t even realize that we think this. But, our actions show that in our hearts, we think we know better than Him.
For example, often, even without asking Him, we think we know what He wants us to do. Or, without waiting for His green signal, we begin running forward. Or, we keep going, thinking we are in His will, only to later discover that we have outrun His will.
Our intentions may be good. But, our methods are flawed.
I am slowly learning that even when we are serving God, we should do His work, in His way, according to His will and in His timing. And if we do this, He will bless the fruit of our labor.
