Lord over Nature!

Thursday night on our way home from Priyas, it began to rain cats and dogs. As we pulled into our driveway, I made a face. I did not want to get drenched! But, it was raining so hard, it was inevitable that I would be soaked just in the time it takes to get out of the car and to our front door.

Then I remembered how the Lord used to protect me from the rain when I was in the US. My sister used to drop me off at college. Whenever it rained, we would pray. The rain would not stop immediately or permanently. But, when it was time for me to get out of the car, the Lord would cause the rain to stop and I would be able to get out of the car and into the building where I was going without getting wet! It didn’t happen only once or twice…it happened every time! And if you know anything about Seattle (where I was living at the time) you would realize that this is a HUGE miracle…because Seattle is known for the number of rainy days it gets :)

And I was reminded of the time one of the little girls in our church gave a testimony. She said that the electricity left (as is normal in Faridabad). But normally the kids in our church pray for the electricity to come back, whenever it leaves, and they share testimonies of how the electricity immediately comes back on. However, this little girl decided she didn’t want the electricity to come back on. Instead, she prayed, “Jesus, make it rain!” And it actually began to rain! It was not the rainy season…there were no clouds in the sky at the time…rain was not expected…but the Lord her this little girl’s prayer and He sent rain!

I also remembered the time one of the youth in our church prayed for rain. Again, it was not the rainy season. In fact, it had been very hot for many days. He prayed for rain. But, he also prayed that the farmer’s crops would not be harmed. And sure enough, unexpectedly we had a rain storm. But the even more amazing part of this testimony happened the next day. We all happened to be going to a rural area for ministry. As we were driving there, we passed many fields, ripe for harvest…and none of them had been harmed by the rain!

As I remembered all of these things, I quietly said a prayer in my heart, asking the Lord to make the rain stop just long enough for me to get in the house. I didn’t really think the prayer would work because the rain had just been getting harder and harder over the past few minutes. But, just as I opened my door to get out of the car, the driver exclaimed, “The rain has stopped! Hurry up and get out of the car before it starts again!”

Praise the Lord! I was able to make it inside the house without getting wet!

I am reminded of a passage in the Bible where Jesus and his disciples were in a boat and a storm arose. The disciples paniced, but Jesus simply got up, rebuked the wind and the water, and there was calm. The Bible tells us in Luke 8:25, that the disciples marveled and said “to one another, ‘Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him!’”

The answer to the disciples’ question is simple: Jesus is God! He is the creator of the universe. He created the winds and the water, so of course, they obey Him.

Intellectually we know that God created everything and thus everything is under His power…under His control. But, practically, we often forget this. We forget that the one who created nature, can change nature. I often tell people who feel bound or discouraged by the alignment of their stars (astrology) or the lines on their hands (palmistry), “The one who created the stars can change their alignment! The one who created your hand, can change the lines! Trust in Him!”

Perhaps you don’t care much about actual rain…in fact, you like to dance in the rain and get wet. But, perhaps, there is a different kind of rain storm in your life…an emotional storm…a mental storm…a physical storm…Just as He can control and calm the storms of nature…He can control and calm the storm in your life.  Ask Him today.

Yes. It is a matter of your trust and I learned it recently that believe the help available next door. I mean to say GOD is just a call away just ask, just pray with full devotion, with faith in Lord’s doings. Your all worries will be taken care of by HIM. Pray to JESUS and believe me by the time you complete your prayer you’ll feel something positive. Just show the TRUST in HIM and HE will reciprocate soon.
    Have faith in your prayers!!!
